Export Streamlines from FD Simulations
|
Within studioSL standard simulator output such as well rates, field rates, and grid-based properties are viewable for 3rd party finite-difference simulators such as Eclipse, PSim, Powers, and GPRS. For finite-difference (FD) simulation results that are viewed in studioSL, it is also possible to export streamlines. This is done using the Export Streamlines action available from the menu actions off of the simulation results node (see image at right). Grid properties, a velocity field, and well layer rate information must first be output during the FD simulation run. The Export Streamline action will then launch 3DSL on a simplified input file which reads the FD output to then trace the streamlines. Thus all results are based on the FD velocity field at each timestep. Once the tracing is completed, standard streamline based information such as the Flux Pattern Map and the injector pattern efficiencies are available as additional simulation results to view along with the standard FD results. These 3rd party simulator nodes appear as a hybrid simulation with both conventional output and streamline-based output. This export feature also allows other studioSL workflows such as History Matching and floodOPT, that require streamline-based information, to work with FD simulators without the need to first translate the FD model to a 3DSL flow simulation model. The export streamlines feature requires a 3DSL base license as well as a studioSL license.
